It was hard for me when I was in Egypt and I was only there a total of a year. I can't even imagine what it's like for as long as you have been on this continent but then at least it's the same language.

I still call Australia home.

I suppose I always will. even though the country I know and love so well is disappearing.

I read Australian news on my telephone but not sure about who decides to post what yet. I haven't been reading it for long. There isn't ever much about Australia in the news over this way.

I think like the US they are becoming rather polarized or so it seems to me. Voices are getting angrier, loud talk of becoming a Republic now that the Queen is gone;there are signs of Antisemitism in Sydney, unheard of when I was living in Sydney.

I mostly lived in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney just South of the City Center and where Bondi beach is.The Eastern suburbs was where the Jewish people lived as well. I was nursing for some years in a large General Hospital and Many of my patients back then were Holocaust survivors. I could fill a book with their stories but I won't. people who are holocaust deniers should have seen the tattoos on their arms, listened to some of their life stories, seen how terrified they were as they came out of anesthesia!

But to finish on a happy note. Bondi beach is still a lovely place to swim and right now the weather is mid summer, and even if a storm is gathering, people are at the beaches!

The controversy reminds me every year in America with Columbus Day. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem that everybody will be happy.

I suppose we usually feel emotion about where we were born.

Cannot say much I think the pills are making me feel dizzy.

Good Evening

Kabu, I always love reading your posts about Australia.  It made me stop and think for a minute that I've never had a lamb chop.  I'm also wondering what kind of sausages the kids eat while they are celebrating?  It's snowing so hard here right now that it looks like a whiteout.  It's freezing cold outside and if the snow continues the kids might have another snow day.  I hope that you and Jim and Mr. Graysome have a good night.  Stay warm!

Now you've got me thinking... my thoughts I'll post elsewhere rather than invade your blogspace!

I am also thinking of the myriad ways I'd give myself away as American, visiting Australia!

Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if the originals and the newcomers

could work out a deal to share the place - both in Australia, as well as the Americas? There's room for all of us if we'd just be a bit more neighborly and accepting of one another.

I don't know if I ever mentioned it to you or not, but you are the first and only person that I have "known" personally that was born and bread in Australia.  I have, through the years really enjoyed the things you have written written about your life there, and continue to write about.

Good afternoon

Fun times! I will remember not to ask for ketchup if I ever get the chance to visit and dine in the "land down under." Your comments about the aboriginal people reminds me of the song, "Beds Are Burning," which was a statement song about giving them their land back. You can both read about and hear the song by clicking on the link. I know that you love music, so you may well enjoy this. The video is an even bigger tell all. This is what the song is about: Midnight Oil's “Beds Are Burning” Lyrics Meaning - Song Meanings and Facts, and this is the video: https://youtu.be/ejorQVy3m8E
