Re: Good afternoon Sherri

Never see them very close here, only when they take the walnuts, perhaps they remember not so long ago that they were eaten.

RePat

I suppose it keeps the roads cleaner. I am not surprised that they have memory.

When the weather gets so cold that the little lake across the road freezes, the Canada geese come in squawking and slide across the lake and then stand around on one foot at a time holding the other up in the feathers to get it warm.

When I was a kid living in NJ, a drive into The City involved some miles on the... I forget the name, but a fast highway between Here and There. I'd see crows 'surfing' along the shoulder of the road on the wind off the passing traffic.  Maybe they were amusing themselves between courses.

I've seen those very crows, on perpetual watch as they devour

the day's special between the painted lines on the roadway.  And they remember faces, or so I saw on a documentary recently. Amazing birds.

There is something soothing about seeing that stone-created ripple...I saw a lot of roadkill today. The birds are going to eat well.

Good afternoon

They are quite the hunters and survivors when left to their own devices. We have a group of four Crows that visit our yard regularly. It is in my yard that they can locate an easy meal of seeds, nuts, corn, and leftovers. They also appear to get along with my many squirrels.
