- Go to The Sluggard
This made me smile - when my sister was little (the living one) she told her teacher she was late for school because there were lions in the back garden - ! The teacher at parents' evening told my dad the story, and said that he'd looked at her angelic face and big blue eyes and found himself almost believing her - lol

Re: anib
For some reason I cannot picture you as a sluggard.

I'm myself a sluggard. I do something when I feel like and don't when I'm not up to it. And maam, it's your wish to be or not to be (Working). Life is always to be taken as it comes, and never rush. That is the philosophy I live by.

Oops! Guilty as charged at times. You can give yourself permission to be a worker bee when it suits you to do so and rest when you feel you should do so. My family had a work ethic that said basically one never or seldom rested.

Re: Your Dad had a great way to get one moving and
With that stuff going on at your house (or not going on) I would feel the same way.

Your Dad had a great way to get one moving and
I have surely done a lot of that in my life. Now though all I want to do is sleep.Just curl up with Graysome at my feet and 'to sleep perchance to dream.'

Re: I think your dad was doing his best to make a good person out of you.
Well, he had his downside now and then too. LOL. I surely did love him, but I can remember my Mom now and then hot on his tail.

I think your dad was doing his best to make a good person out of you.
He succeeded. No doubt you've had double-duty days that took every iota of your strength and tried your last nerve, so if you do the "sluggard" thing once in a while, you're just evening up the score - it seems to me.

Well I think you can override your Dad's suggestion, I wish I had a servant but I
think they would rise too quickly and become in charge.

Good afternoon
I have never heard that reference to a lazy person, but the word sluggard certainly does fit. As for that snow, it has found its way to Pittsburgh. Please come and take it back.
