Re: Pat

It does seem that some things are now becoming too expensive for a lot of folks.

I suppose once we had the bare necessities but other must-haves eat away at pay packets. Thank you for the observation into the scene as witnessed.

Re:

Yes Archie is putting the price of his pallet wood up. It is really frightening the price of a few blocks of wood. Years ago folk would say its like burning money. It is like burning the Bank now.

Everything with energy these days keeps on going up and up and up.

There was a time we lived within a stone's throw of the forest, and

we cut our own Christmas tree each year - but we still ordered cordwood from a woodlot  - short lengths which we would then chop to smaller size or kindling. We had a wood-burning cookstove. Mama's biscuits were so light and tasty, but getting the wood from the shed could be a chilly proposition in winter.

I loved the senior love, the daughter's perspective, the gentleman's observation. This was amazing!

Good afternoon

Chopping your own wood if allowed is the cheaper way to go versus buying it by the bundle or the truckload. Of course, one must take the time to allow it to be seasoned first.

If I burned wood here, I definitely would go wooding.  Our place is heated with gas and I just got mail telling me that the bill for that is going up 12 and a half percent.  That's a pretty good sized jump.
