I like the pageantry that comes to mind as I read the lines

about Wychwood Forest and the circumstance of heroic service.  As for the rough and tough bar patron - I'd listen to her stories and be grateful.

Wychwood Forest... a name to conjure with! And, as usual, you do that conjuring with your poems and characters even when they are not set in the Forest.

A tough and rough woman who hangs out in a bar is probably not equipped to deal with a lifelong marriage, but she is great for songs, a drink, and a laugh.
