I hadn't looked at that manuscript in years, so it was a good set of 'fresh eyes.' The errors popped out big time.
I agree. Editing is an art and a process, but I have started a systematic re-edit of everything I write at least once every eighteen months now. The more I do this, the easier it is for me.

I may be wrong, but to me editing is 'real' writing - it's chipping away at
the marble of the first draft to create a recognizable sculpted and solid script that lets readers see the writer's vision.
