I have turned my back on all charities after reading what their administrators make as salary. The only organizations I help out are animal shelters (I know the people personally) and friends or neighbours who need a hand now and then.

Good Afternoon
Kabu, I was watching the news this morning and they said we are going to warm up by the end of the month. I hope so because this winter feels like it's gone on forever. We had to get a block on our phone because so many people were calling for all different reasons. We give to the City Mission because they help women and children and families. If someone needs something they give it to them. They have a huge warehouse downtown that has supplies for people. I think it's more important now than ever before to help people down on their luck. I worry for the children. I hope you have a good night and stay warm.

Yes, it is a shame one contributes and then a lot of money is spent on promotions To make one do it again. I now do it at Christmas when I feel like it. Are you going to drive your little car? It has a lot of memories.

I've been getting a ton of charity telemarketing. I've been blocking numbers a lot lately. It's amazing all the phone numbers they got out there.

Good morning
Scams and charity cases are on the rise. We had a guy who recently called and said that we signed a 3x5 card requesting information for end-of-life funeral expenses, which is different from life insurance. I know for a fact that I didn't sign any such thing, but he remained adamant. He actually wanted to come to our house with a contract. I haven't heard of these types of visits since the selling of Kirby vacuum cleaners and encyclopedias.

It seems the begging and whining from every charity in the world
never ends. They're on every TV program, fliers in the mail, ads on FB and the news feed - and worst of all, constant telephone robo calls. As soon as it warms up, there will also be folks knocking on the door wanting to sell home repairs or electioneering. And of course the Red Cross needs our very blood...
