Re: Good Afternoon Sassy

I think you have a good spot for birds, I suppose they take no notice of the trains.

Re: FS

Sparrows used to be caught by nets and used as food. Not that I would fancy that.

Re: Good Afternoon Goldiec

The problem is we have so many folks feeding the birds. sometimes it encourages rats, one does not see them much, but when folk stop feeding in the Spring the rats are seen running around not a lot but perhaps three. It is then that some folk put poison down.

Re: Pat

The swallows used to build, the underhang of the roof was a dry place. I wonder if it is the traffic that has driven them away. Perhaps they know more than we do. Of course, we have had bird flue here recently, it might make a difference

I don't believe I've ever seen a sparrow where I'm at...A love starts with a dream.

Good Afternoon

Our birds went away for a long time but there are some scattered around and we put birdseed in the feeder just in case they decide to stop and chat for a while.  For a long time, we had one bird that was so loud you could hear him wherever we went on the property but I'm not sure where he went.  He might be back in the Spring.  I hope you have a good night and are drinking tea for nourishment on the cold evenings.

Good afternoon

The Sparrows are regular visitors to my yard, but my tiniest visitor is the Hummingbird, but he only pops in during the hottest months for a sip from the sugary water treat that I provide for him. Our feathered friends are smart. They know exactly where to go to get their little bellies full.

I used to see birds we called barn swallows - they were perhaps swifts

but that was in another geographic area. I don't recall seeing any here in town, although from time to time there are graceful expert fliers in mid-size flocks overhead. Robins, sparrows, the occasional snowbird - and my favorite: crows. There is a family of ravens that loves the open fields just outside of town - I see a couple of them along the highway now and then.
