It's a pathetic stain on society that we even have to have this conversation anymore. Yet we do. I'd be long gone from somebody like that who thinks women are slaves. The guy who took responsibility for living in his own house was great.

Good evening
Some men truly believe that the housework is for women. I guess that it stems from a time when men worked and women cared for the home. I am lucky. I do not have to ask for 'help.' John just automatically sees what needs to be done and does it.

Good Afternoon
I wish everyone felt like this because I think families should have the same goals.

This dialog was a major part of the culture at SIUE in the 70s and 80s,
where activism was on fire much of the time - and part of the fuel was the Equal Rights Amendment which was in the process of being ratified (I believe it would have taken 2/3 of all the states and Illinois was a crucial if not the last remaining Yes that would have made it part of the Constitution.) Of course the conservative wing of the GOP was not in favor of equality for women, they put their big guns up against it, and even though the state of Illinois enacted its own version of the ERA, the Federal version failed. I'm still ticked off at Phyllis Schlafly and her ilk who worked against equal rights under the law for women.
