In those times there were not many drugs to combat it. I think dad had to stay in bed for up to three weeks and prayers were said for him in the church.

I've had pneumonia twice in my life. I can't imagine getting it three times so close together.

In those days Sassy we had to syphon the parifin from storage tanks. One had to suck on a hose and start the flow. It was horrible if one left it too late and sucked in a mouthful of parifin of course one spat it out but it kept repeating as you may well guess.

Yes I remember one woman when I had to tell her that parifin was going up one penny, She said if it goes up again don't call on me. it was one shilling and fourpence a gallon delivered.

It sometimes seems "the customer is always right" is basically unfair
at times. Some customers are rude and demanding, will complain no matter what. I know your job in the paraffin trade was difficult and done well under trying conditions. Fourteen-year-olds are capable of doing a very good job, and back in the day everyone in a family - kids and parents - had to pitch in to keep the enterprise going. Sounds to me like your dad was a very good guy.

Good afternoon
Paraffin has a mind of its own when it is allowed to run freely. Candle wax can be delightful or most damaging depending on the extent of the contents, watched carefully, or haphazardly left alone.
