- Go to December in Australia
Some of my relations went out to Australia. I expect I've told you. I don't know what
the great uncle did but he was in the butchering trade here. He must have made
some money because he came back with a trap and two horses just for a visit.
Just imagine in those days I don't know how long it would have taken. Anyway, when
he died my great Aunt, of course, he was her brother. I remember her telling my
father that she was trying to get hold of his Will. It was a long way to wait for letters
and I suppose she gave up in the end. There were rumours of course that he had
married but no one ever found out. I suppose today it might have been different.

Good afternoon
I grew up in farm country in the southern part of Oregon for much of my teen years. The farmers grew alfalfa, beets, potatoes, greens, and corn. I attended school with several kids who we referred to as, "goat ropers." 4H was a big deal in our area. Without farmers, you don't eat. Plain and simple. I used to envy the farm kids. They always seemed to be happy, and since you are a happy adult, I have to assume that there is something to playing in the dirt and making a real difference in the world.

A right perfect crop in my opinion. Cheers!

I sounds like barley is more delicate than wheat to grow but I don't know anything much about farming. Our poor farmers are at the mercy of the winds and the weather, the sun and the water. Do you miss the Australian warm weather at Christmas?

Good Evening
Kabu, I know very little about Australia and I love to read about it. It's always been cold here in December. I love snow at Christmas and by the time we get to January, we have days minus zero. Our Farmers are done with their crops by early fall. They spend their winter months planning for their crops in the new season. My heart goes out to Farmers if their crops are destroyed by the weather conditions.

Similar farm work and obstacles to overcome, but opposite seasons
from North America. Whenever I wished I could travel to another country, it was Australia I wanted to see. Always thought of it as similar to the old west, the desert and mountain areas of the USA, and the people were / are pioneers who make the best of life and help their neighbors, etc.
