Re: sassyGood afternoon

I know it was sad but folk in those days were not protected by Social Security.

Yes, we are lucky in a way to have Freedom and I hope one day we will be free of this cloud that hangs over us.

Re: FS

Well, we always had pheasant and rabbits for dinner as children. Not that anyone would want a wild rabbit these days with the disease that inflicts them.

Re: Kabu

Yes Kabu you are right and there are still poor folk here, trouble is we get so many immigrants thinking it is a tolerant country.

Re: Daniell

Yes I know some are left in very poor conditions even now. Of course in UK we have this Social Security. It has lifted many out of direct poverty. Thank you for your comment.

Re: shamasehar

Well, things have changed here.  Some even exploit the system. Of course, there are always homeless people who cannot latch onto the system.

Re: Taps

One that I always thought of Taps, she was an old lady. Her husband. had a garden

black soil and we used to buy veggies from him . I think a widows pension was only

ten shillings a week in those days.

The divide between the rich and poor is a sad reality...this story wrenches your heart.... wish food could be equally distributed so no one went hungry. One can do without other things but food & water are essential for all.

Awesome story! The universal human story, the battle of right and wrong,

played out in scenes we can visualize.  Vast moral principles in a teardrop. Nice work!

This is a great story and shows even in the times of today.  It is so sad that the middle and lower class have to work ourselves to the bone, we can't take care of our families. And because of that, we buy what we can afford....which is not healthy at all and makes us weaker as well.  Even though I would like to say that stealing is wrong, should a family starve because they can't afford to have something so special as a family?  Even in today's times it's this way, and its horrible.

so well expressed. I think it such a disgrace the Lords of the Manor could keep all those delicacies for themselves and their friends and never think about the poor. But it is always the same. The rich get richer and the poor have children.

That’s quite an intriguing tale you told. i can see where it would make an impression an a young child. So the father stole a pheasant to feed his family? One wonders if that was so wrong? The lines of Lady Jystice do blur at times. I love pheasant! Thank you for this.

Good afternoon

Another wonderful piece of work that you have artfully mastered.  We do the best we can with the resources that we have. Having faith in God helps to pull us through these times that are otherwise questionable.
