A pity we cannot have more of these memories. I have relations and most have no

idea of their ancestors. Probably the old storytelling was replaced by radio and

then ....... . Oh! I can visualise you as a girl. Pretty pretty.

Good Evening

Kabu, these are truly wonderful memories of your Mom and your family.  I loved reading about the different events you went to when you were little.  The Cinema reminded me of my Grandma.  When I was very little she loved watching cowboy shows and I would sit and watch them with her.  If someone on the show got killed I would cry and cry.  I would be heartbroken.  She would try to tell me it was just a tv show but I never understood.  I thought they were really killed.  I still think of that every now and then.

Re: Re: Sea_Gypsy, my hubby was transferred there as a manager in1990.

He was a white-collar worker. I was the blue-collar laborer.

Your mom and grandma must have been very special people. Look at how lovely you are! Yes, lots of changes since the birth of your mom. We really don’t get used to it having our moms around. Well, mist of us. Hollywood was a magical dream place, as was California and the Pacific Ocean, to my parents. My dad was thrilled to be free of snow and in the warm weather, and my mom loved being near theaters and movie-making. I would truly love to see California rise once again.

Re: Good afternoon

Sassy, I lived there too long ago! I didnt think of SD as a true blue-collar area. It is (or was) very nice.

I saw a bit on the news last night, someone was wondering if the

world is going to have another "roaring twenties" after this pandemic is past as we did in the 1920s after the Spanish flu epidemic. I know people are short-tempered and on edge these days - I don't remember hearing of so many road-rage incidents or about so many just flying off the handle and hurting their own families.  It's like we've all got PTSD or something. I think your mom sounds lovely. I hope you'll write some more about her.

Good afternoon

How exciting! I can almost see your grandmother in her long dress and her bonnet. If you have any photos, please share them. That is a really interesting time in history. I believe that Hollywood is a dream for most until they actually get there. I lived nearby in San Dimas, California. It is a special place, but it is expensive. So much to do and so little money to do it unless you are one of the fortunate, which we were not. We were a part of the white and blue-collar groups.
