I love spumante blush! Have you ever tried it?

Kabu

The grape vine in the backyard has sparse new growth this year. I guess it's from the harsh winter.

Yes, a chap told me that he thought he could buy wine from a vineyard at a cheap rate. He was amazed the seller wanted more than he could buy it in England and would hardly believe it until shown proof. You would be amazed at the different races here, a bit different to your previous tour.

It's funny how things are cheaper some places than at others. Trying to figure it out does make for confusion.

My widowed grandmother married a German immigrant who turned

part of her (their) eastern Washington wheat and grain farm into wine grape acreage. I don't believe that area ever became wine counrtry, but there were all kinds of fruit crops there. I think Australia is every bit as diverse as any country on earth - very interesting to read your posts about your beautiful homeland.

What a beautiful and diverse country! Thank you. I remember many years ago sineonevsayingvthat Cenice had an unpleasant odor in the air, then later I heard that about Rome, but it was the gasolibe fumes in Rome.

Ribcage spent time in Hong Kong in the 80's and they must have bettered it a bit by then.  The pictures that he took and the comments that he made about it were more upbeat.

It is great that you get good wine for cheap.

I use wine in my cooking, but I buy the one bearing our last name from our local winery. It is delicious. Many of those German farmers settled here in Pennsylvania. They take great pride in their homes, work, and culture. As for Hong Kong in the 1960s, this comes as no surprise as strict pollution laws hadn't come into full effect. I have heard horror stories concerning the odors. Again, thanks for sharing these pieces of your life. Travel is a wonderful educator.

Good Afternoon

Kabu, I love this post.  I'm speechless about the conditions in Hong Kong in the '60s.  It's even worse to read that it was foul-smelling too.  I feel so bad for the people that lived there.  I really enjoy learning about Australia and Canada and really everywhere.  I'm not a world traveler so I really appreciate this.
