That's great how boarding school was such a positive part of your life. I never did any school boarding until I got to college.

Yes it is really a part of history. I remember seeing photos of your Mother and Father.

It is always interesting to read about Australia. I have had several relations ship out there.

Kabu

My mother's maternal family history includes settlers from England - also Irish, and later her paternal family goes back to England.

Kabu - thank you.

It's always a treat to read you, and especially a treat to read about your homeland, your Motherland, and your experiences growing up and Australia in general. I have some relatives there, though of course, I don't know them. Some left their Italy and moved all over the world.

Good Evening

Kabu, I absolutely loved this post.  Thank you for sharing a glimpse into the life you lived when you were growing up.  I love your parents.  They were so good to you and your sister.  I'm glad you had the experiences that you did in boarding school.  I've never been anywhere close to Australia so I really appreciate reading what it is like there.  Do you have towns there like our suburbs?

Nice to see the locale where you grew up. I've always had a soft spot

in my heart for Australia - my Uncle George, (Mom's younger brother) was a soldier there during WWII and married a girl named Goldie. She was a peach - I always thought the world of her - she was very close to my Grandma Lucy (her mother-in-law) and my aunties.

I checked out the map on Google. I couldn't help but notice Kangaroo Island that is near that "Italian-looking boot." This is quite an interesting area of our big world. Lucky you.

Money isn't everything, but family is. You had such a fascinating childhood. England is where my ancestors hail from as well. I would love to visit both Australia and England. Thank you for sharing a piece of your childhood with us.
