Goldfish at fairs was banned it did seem cruel. Going back further my father said the boys used to buy small bags of flour and try to push it down girls backs. I don't think girls would stand that today.

What a look into the distant past - I'm not sure if they still
do the summer circuits - some of those carnival things have gone by the wayside, or they become part of church festivals and the wild man exhibits are not allowed. Maybe the goldfish thing is a lot of bother, too, when there are electronic games that can rake in the cash. Interesting to think of fairies being able to read our dreams.
