You're right.
I just had some one very close to me come out.  I am scared for this person because of how oppressive society can be.  The 40% who may be in the minority need to keep our message out there; its unfortunate how often minority needs are sacrificed for majority rule.  I am slowly begining to realise that there are elements of dictatorships everywhere...

Okay,
Quiz,

Tamamra99 is right. If we go with that way of thinking, then we might as well get rid of most of the laws that say people are free to practice their chosen religion, work their chosen profession, live their chosen lives and practice the ideas of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. If we let 60% of the people have it their way, then we are not allowing for freedom. That is for the most part one group of people deciding how everyone should live. We might as wells ay that 60% of the population is Christian, so there is no longer any need for the other religions to be practiced in our country because 60% of us disagree with them. (And no, I do not know what the actually % is, I was using that idea to make a point.) It comes down to making sure the individual's right are preserved as long as it does not the rights away form another and gay marriages do not take any one else's right away.

Y-L-F

The law would not get in the way of my life either, but that is not the point. I am not fighting for my rights here, except for maybe in the long run. I am standing up for the individual who is not me and who I disagree with, but I feel should have the same right as I to live their life as they please since they are not hurting anyone else by living this way.

As long as we make sure each and every person's right s are guarded, we will be guarding our own as well. I do not care what your life style is or what you believe, but I will stand up for a person rights to live as they wish no matter how much I may I disagree with that life style. And that is the idea that the USA was founded on and it is what the future must be built on if we are to have a future at all.

Oh, and Quiz....

That means 40% disagree.  Majority Rules is NOT the way to protect our rights.....saying that is like saying that if you have a group of 5 men and 3 women that Rape is no longer wrong if majority rules.   Or getting two lions and a gazelle to vote on what's for dinner..

Our basic rights must be protected for ALL individuals - not just the puppets who agree with the majority.

I agree with you - it IS scary.

People think that taking rights away from someone else is okay....but then when it comes time for the knock at THEIR door, they'll be clueless as to where their civil liberties went to.   This must be what it was like in pre-WWII Nazi Germany.

A constitutional amendment to define marriage to be between one man and one women would not interfere with my plans.

Just one group's moral opinion?
Over 60% of the country believes that marriage should be between a man and a woman.  Many homosexuals agree.  You're in the minority on this one.
