Jenny Wren would have delivered the news more delicately I think.
I can just imagine her mother's surprise at Katie knowing about the baby and the news coming from her feathered friend.

My Dad had a Mr. Wren friend. In his retirement years he used to make bird houses of different kinds. Some were made out of gourds and hung around his garden. The wren house was made from wood and painted just like a house. Mr. Wren would come out of the house and they would talk to each other in wren language.

Well-written and it is an adjustment for a child to have a new sibling in the house. I remember.

From my perspective it seems your ability to write from your
character's point of view is very well done and right on target. I am really enjoying getting to know little Katie and learning from her.
