I am so glad you survived!

Gnomes/Faerie/Etc can be so mischeivious!

I would love to hear the stories you were told as you were growing up.

I will never look at a porcelain cup the same.

This is a truly amazing and hair-raising story. It is spookier than any I have encountered.

Oh geez, the Water Sprite is scarier than any ghost.

I knew the pond had some eerie stories linked to it, and now I know why I avoid them.

I enjoyed this post so much. I learned from it but also something sounded familiar when you described Vodnik. Perhaps a guardian angel came to save you! Or an enchanted one of the elven folk. I'm glad you learned to swim. Very frightening episode.

Wow!  I've learned something new today!  I had never heard of this.  Taps I was scared for you just reading about your water experience.  Thank goodness that girl came along to save you!

There are quite a few Czech and Bohemian folks in this neck of the woods.

They came to work the steel mills and factories that were built along the Mississippi River at towns like Granite City and others back in the late 1800s and after WWI. There is no wedding happier than one of those, the polka and schottische that draw everyone onto the dance floor make it a real festival. I had never heard the legend of the demons, little people and especially the scary water sprite.

Re:

LOL Kabu.  I never drink tea out of a porcelain cup for I'm afraid of what else might be in there.

That was really scary and you came so close to ending with your soul in a porcelain tea cup. I never went near our biggest catchmnet dam on our farm Mother told me that Dad threw a water man into it after he had dug it out with his machinery.
