Yes Pat actually my Father had a license it was grandly called .'Licenced Hawker.'
It was from an old law . Protecting the public presumably.

CCT - The thrill of the sale - like those who sell real estate and love it!
Mother always warned us to beware of sellers of things like certain insurances, the Fuller Brush man, and vacuum cleaner salesmen. She would not let them come around. You have painted quite a realistic picture for us and I especially liked the part about the bicycle. And the writing at the end was superb!
