Do it. Start slow. When the mood strikes you, type faster.
That's how I work on some of my back projects. When I get bored or frustrated with a main story, I look at my desktop and find one of the twenty or so story lines I want to do. Sometimes I surprise myself. I finally pull one out to finish and discover that it's already most of the way done. Slow and steady wins the race!
