Actually, I ran for State Rep once back in 1994. My Father died right in the middle of the campaign and I withdrew. I doubt I would have won because a friend of mine (we rode the same bus and graduated the same time!) who had been the rep from that area got into the race late. When I withdrew, I pledged to support her. She won that year and just retired as Senator to the Michigan Congress.

I love doing (or I used to) public speaking. I taught thousands of Red Cross First Aid and CPR classes. I taught EMT and Paramedic classes and have given speeches on many things in many places. The comedy stuff was just a natural spin off. If I had one closer, there's no doubt in my mind that I would be there on a regular basis.

I too suffer from stage fright. I have been invited to speak at several libraries and book signings. It just isn't something that I am comfortable doing.
