My grandma Lucy could write a couple pages on her yellow legal pad

without a comma or a period - she used a lot of "ands" to write a story all in one breath. I suppose for a frontier woman born in the late 1800's it was amazing that she knew how to read and write at all, let alone using proper grammar.

Interesting articles about punctuation.  I have just always taken it for granted that they have always been there.  What a job it would be to try to read a book that has no puntuation marks.
