I don't remember the chirp feature. These days I don't have a cell phone.
Since I'm home 90% of the time, the old land line seems to be sufficient. The big drawback for phones these days is the overwhelming number of robo calls, sales pitches and scams. "Do not call" lists are no deterrent, it seems.

We used to tie a length of string to two cocoa tins . It was one of the first.
