Re: BigV

Thank you.
I was diagnosed with Afib when I was nine. I was having PVC's, a frequently fatal arrhythmia this time, which should not be ignored. I have a huge family history of cardiac arrhythmias. My Father died of his, my younger sister died of hers, and I nearly died from mine three years ago. My daughter also has this condition. Treated and cared for, it is quite manageable, but on occasions, it breaks out as mine did yesterday. I was a paramedic for 12 years, and then an ER RN for another 24 years, which gives me a huge step above most people.

BigV

The uncertainty of a health crisis is maddening, indeed. It shows how little the doctors actually know about human bodies.  Some encouragement, perhaps.....  I have had an irregular heartbeat all my life, and it did not stop me from racing dirt bikes, serving in the Army, jumping out of airplanes, etc.  Currently, I push myself on a mountain bicycle, on difficult trails.  I feel the heart episodes but I have learned to ignore them.  They used to make me a bit dizzy, but that may have been from a reaction of fear. Now that I ignore them, they do not make me dizzy at all.  In my recent doctor exam, he was at first alarmed when he listened to my heart, and subjected me to two EKG's, which confirmed the irregular heartbeat as pretty much a constant thing.  He dubbed it AFIB, and said he could prescribe something for it, but I declined.  So he will check it again in six months.  I hope your irregular heartbeat is as insignificant as mine. Cheers and Blessings

Sorry to hear that.  It is such a drag to have to go through that.  The last time I went through pretty much the same thing, I decided that whatever happened the next time I was just going to get comfy in my lounge chair and take come what may.  But....who knows what I will really do.   We are fighters aren't we.

love, this had been happening to Wiley before those three weeks in Hospital. Mainly he was in hospital all that time, because they were having trouble with his medications. Things like weight loss and change of diet and of course his mental health had to be taken into account. His heart medications, he has had them gradually reduced in accordance with his life style and weight.
