I love leafy scenes. It really puts me in the mood for October.
Generally, spring and fall don't last long in Maryland. We go from Summer to fall to winter quickly. Then winter to spring to summer quickly.

Well every leaf has done a little bit towards maintaining the tree, gradually all returns to the good earth and brings forth new life again.Now get your broom and sweep them up.

Beautiful. I love that. Everything is totally wet here. It has rained five or six days in a row and more are still coming. Last evening I finally turned on the furnace. Then I also got up in the middle of the night and dug out another warm fuzzy blanket to put on top of the two already on me.

I have a couple of low spots in my back yard, and I've started raking the leaves into those areas and make sure that they are wet to help quicken their 'return to dust.' I have a lot of trees bordering my property, and last year I was able to fill in an area that was at least fifteen inches lower than the rest of the ground. I will add more leaves this fall, but most of this years 'harvest' will go to the other corner. I'm not sure why those areas were so low, but it seems to be a good place to turn an ankle, and I don't have time for that nonsense!

Yes, it is beautiful.......but they're a pain to clean up off the ground....and I have 3 acres of just shaded yard....
