Ribcage has a very loud call to them that tells them to leave the little birds food alone. They fly off immediately and then come back later to their feeding of scraps.

Crows had a hard job of it when all the elm trees died here. They had to learn to roost lower. One thing I don't think many eat rook pie now. It always was cruel shooting the nests out to send the young crows and rooks spattering to the ground.

Crows are not too abundant where I am at, which is kind of amazing because of our football team being named the Ravens.

When I lived in my little house in Seattle, there was a flock of crows
that lived in the tall trees that grew around there - any time I came out my back door they'd announce my presence. I felt a bit like I had a butler. Saw a PBS program about scientiests who discovered that crows remember human faces and may have an enemies list, that's passed from bird to bird and from one generation to the next. I always root for the crows and other small birds when they're routing a hawk away from their corner.
