Kabu

I am catching up here, great post about a mysterious thief!  If you were so inclined, you could get a hunter's "trail camera", that would snap a photo of the thief, whenever they show up, because it is motion activated.  We once had a deer-feeder, and we wanted to see the deer that were showing up, so we put up one of those cameras, aimed at the feeder.  We got hundreds of photos.  Turns out, we were feeding a band of 5 or 6 bandits,  namely raccoons, who had figured out how to climb up the legs of the feeder and use their little hands to spin the feeder, and get the corn to come out.  It was a raccoon all-you-can-eat buffet!!  So we gave up on the "deer" feeder at that location.

Those cameras are pretty cheap, probably $40 for a basic one.  You might get all kinds of interesting photos, to share on Blogit.  Cheers

Thief!

I had my bright blue marbles and seashells disapearing one year. I would find them all over the deck and lawn.... even in the front of the house and out to the road. I would be weeding across the acres and there I would find a tiny shell. I couldn't figure out what was going on! It turned out I had a thief in blue swooping in and grabbing all he could before flying out. He would drop half of what he took... such a greedy thing. It was a Steller's Jay.

Kabu - Such a great post ...

This is such a classically wonderful post. dear Kabu. I just loved reading it. No, your marbles are still intact! But you do have a thief around. It's nice to care about the bees. We gave so many this year it is near the danger point, I fear. Hope you catch the culprit.

I had a hummingbird feeder. I have spread food powder around the garden for the good bugs such as ladybugs love.

Use super glue "Thick"  put a glob on each piece as you put them in.   Or put the dish up off the ground so the chip monks can't get them...the bees will still go to the water.

What an interesting thing.  One never knows what will happen in nature.

Perchance there is a magpie. OR ,listen for the thief who rattles. I bet I could have won them from you . Not really hygienic we used to play rolling them down the street gutters.

Yes, I imagine someone is crowing over a grand collection of shinies! A dish of pebbles might have more staying power?

Well, now that's quite the mystery. Maybe those pesky gnomes

wanted to try a bit of lawn bowling. Or, more likely you're right - it's crows.
