I've never been in a situation where I had to take one, but I've seen them administrated in the prison and once in an ER. Results depend on how the test is given. A famous man I know always says, "Words mean things," in this case meaning intentions.  A 'client' can be intimidated to the point that they get too nervous to respond properly, leading to a 'lie' being told. Certain medications can make you be able to 'pass' a test, even when you are known to be lying. Digoxin and Sotolol, two very common heart medications, can keep your heart rate from changing, one of the measures of 'truth telling.'

Have you ever taken a lie detector test yourself?  If so, did you pass it?
