Re: Amanda

I know, Amanda. I don't discuss religion here though.

They have all sorts of things coming up, I'm sure.

Re: BC-A

Correct. We don't know. Thank you.

Re: Pat

You are correct in the possible extended physiology of the body. I was taught to 'never speak ill of the dead' also. And I try not to do so.

Re: GM

Thank you. You are correct about the myriad forces here. It's always been that way, probably from the ascent of man. People will believe what they want in the end anyway. (Pardon my pun.)

Some may argue that if it's possible for the braiin to survive as a consciousness for any period of time after death, then it follows that it is possible for that consciousness to survive indefinitely...

As a follower of Christ, I do believe  in life  after death.

That is very fascinating. I am curious to see what else science will think on the subject.

I believ that it is the soul preparing to leave the body to continue the journey mapped out for that part of us that is more than flesh and blood

We can never know what occurs biologically at the time of death. It's alright for myself if I want to think there is consciousness at that point. Something there's not dead ghosts notwithstanding. In Christian thought, it m,ight be the entrance into eternity. However, it's probably entirely unseen and undetected yet alone proven, or ever eill be. Who knows? Have faith in your faith and live fully. Aah, then live for life love.

I think there may be something to this - has to do with the physical

circulation of blood and nutrients that keep flowing after the heart stops - which means it's possible the departed may be able to hear and understand what is going on. Perhaps in times past we recognized this possibility and maybe that's what led to the old saying "never speak ill of the dead."

RP

There are many forces and views in conflict here......  so be careful.  This new finding that awareness (brain activity) continues a very short time after physical death,  will be used by the mostly atheist medical establishment to completely dismiss the countless reports of extended life after death (extended=centuries, millenia, forever),  as the fantasy product of a traumatized brain, trying to survive for a short time after physical death.

The atheists will use this newly confirmed period of seconds or minutes,  to try to destroy all the testimonies of NDE and past-lifers.  Using minutes to try to destroy eternity, and to destroy spiritual truth that we do not understand (yet).
