Luckily having lived in the US for a while I recognised that 'secertary' means a small desk - lol. Time to find a new one, perhaps? I have a cupboard full of boxes of journals .. I really should sort them out, I never got the time to digitalise them so the dusty cobwebs of my mind are still there in those books. Scary!

I used the retired town secretary to type stories and my old novel The Old Lighthouse in the 1990s. She moved to Florida.

Funny how things sometimes turn up after being out of sight for years!
It's as if they slip into some parallel place through a little crevasse, then slip through another... Wouldn't it be wonderful if one's little diary did that, came back eventually after having been used by many parallel selves, filled with all their entries!

my husband wanted our fifty year old desk in the divorce and i let him have it, and gave away the other pieces of funiture he liked but said him and his new wife did not have room for. my son tells me he understands that i needed to get rid of all that was a reminder. oh well. good post and so glad you are writing again.

It's been awhile since I read about anyone owning a secretary -
might have been one of those Sherlock Holmes novels. What fun today's post is!

Actually, I'm laughing because, just for fun, that's what I was trying to do--make people think I was writing about one think when I was writing about something else. It was fun.

When I first starated to read this, you are going to laugh, I thought you were writing a piece that was a take on a man like those we ladies are making known through the "Me Too" movement! :) After reading it in its entirety, I wish you could get your secretary back, and your photos.
