fsi, sometimes people mention things just to try them on ahead of time. especially if they are torn about the decision. retirement is not always what one thinks it is.

Yes, the good news is that you do have that year to hire someone. Mom shouldn't take on more work.

Some people are older at 62 than their years, and some in their 90s
seem so much younger. I think the bureaucrats at the Social Security Admin. need the age in years to regulate their policies, but depending on the job and how much we get out of it, a year can zip by in no time.

It does seem a bit young to retire, everyone appears to be hanging on longer. It is a long time until one has no need.

things do get altered in the hearin gof what is said and the retelling, maybe he was having a bad day and just said a fellow should retire next year and then forgotten all about it.
