After the war the lorries came through for years with parts of aircraft and hudreds of ball bearings. Catapult ammo. The lad was not cruel, but at 14 and no great prospects.

Was it during wartime? Perhaps that had an effect on the boy. A few issues to resolve there, but a great story.

I would have been livid if they were my red tulips, but at least they did flower. Mine get eaten before they get a chance. That boy had many issues not easy to resolve.

A red tuplip lends itself to some tense imagery, especially with the sad ending.
