Noises at night can make for a lot of excitement at night...Recently, a fan in my guest bedroom tilted down funny. That startled me to say the least.

Kabu
Water chatter was the culprit it appears. To be hearing sounds in the night can be so different from hearing them at day times.

How weird and disturbing. I would have been thinking wolf or something if I lived there. Here I might think that squirrels had gotten in.

Kabu - what a night...
Ooh, that makes for a rough night. Hopefully it was the water thingy making the noise. Nice that you could stay indoors and not go out in that cold. Glad nothing was out of place in the morning, dear. We hear sounds here like that here; sometimes it's the coyotes catching their prey, and it is so disturbing to me, though it is the rule of the wild.

I think you may be getting the weather we've had for the last week or so. Bitter cold temps and stiff winds. If it's any consolation, our forecast looks decent for the next couple weeks.

It may have been a Yeti - what with all the polar cold that has
descended upon your (and my) neck of the woods, the old Abominable Snowman may have wandered outside his usual stomping grounds. Get your camera ready.

Water gurgles it never burgles . All is alright when it is light. It is amazing the sounds of the night have frightened folk since time began. Wood creaks and little leaks sound at least like creeks , not indians they would not want to be out in the cold. Keep in the warm.
