I am of the Faith group, so no explanation is necessary.

Ancient history established that writers suported the belief in a soul. Some had help in very good spirit. An excellent post love.

That is very fascinating. I would like to think they're right.

Re: Aba brother

Yes, we are just beginning to touch scientific data regarding the existence or non-existence of a soul. Pat_B and I both recalled reading of a study whereby a doctor, I believe, weighed individuals near death and then at the moment of death, stating he noticed a differential of about one half an ounce, suggesting that was the weight of the soul. I am not qualified to report more than that because I simply don't know more details. If souls exist at a quantum level, they may not be measurable except at a quantum level. Thus, the quote by Thomas Aquinas. Thank you. I like your analogy of the fragrance of the rose. It is quite poetic.

Good finding of the researchers, dear sister Presta

And I thoroughly enjoyed and wondered about Gita assurance revealed 5300 years ago. In Chapter 2, verse 20, Krishna says thus to his human protege Arjuna, when he insists that he will under no circumstances kill his grandsire Bhishma and his guru Dronacharya, saying that he will then never be able to enjoy the kingdom on their blood:

"For the soul there is never birth nor death. Nor, having once been, does he ever cease to be. He is unborn, eternal, ever-existing, undying and primeval. He is not slain when the body is slain" (2.20) ...    How very scientific this was we only probably realize today. And this is the answer to Pat_B, the soul cannot have any weight, because it's not matter. For example, one may dissect the parts of a rose and weigh each part accurately. But can you weigh the fragrance? it hasn't any. The similar is the case of soul.

Re: I thought of you earlier also, as I was posting this...

Yes, dear Katray2, that cord plays on... :) Indeed.

Re: Pat, dear, and Everyone...

Your comment caused me to consider this thought problem (as Einstein may have worded it): if humans have souls, are they all the same size!?? Hmm, could there then be different weights, just as individual as we are. And maybe there are different kinds of souls for animals...

I read this earlier and it touched a chord..

and remembrance cord, Dear RP..:) I will say from my experience, yes indeed, we do.

Re: Pat, yes, as did I...now this.

I, too, have read that story, or one just like it, many years ago. I have read of this theory I posted today a while back. They are both quite interesting, indeed.

Read a story long ago about a doctor who weighed people just before

and just after the moment of transition from life to death - he said the soul weighed about half an ounce, which may or may not tie in with this new theory... Interesting.
