I am one of those who has few things on the walls.
A few pictures of family in the dining room, a couple of mother's paintings, and there are a couple stylized Pacific Northwest spirit animal paintings by a Seattle artist - one is Raven and the other a sunrise over the trees and mountain. I'd thought of putting small 6 x 8 black & white photos of great authors on the wall in my "office" but they're still in stand-up frames on top of the bookshelves.

A good idea, you never know what might come out of the woodwork. One has to be sensible about these things. It makes no difference but saves a lot of pain. I have been there. I do hope it will not be a hard winter for you this year it seems mild here but perhaps it is global warming. Chin up.
