I may still be a little foggy, but are you saying you have a toad and a chipmunk living in or competing for your birdhouse? LOL

I have never seen a gray toad before. All the frogs and toads that I have seen are brown or green.

I expect it is quite comfortable for a toad this time of year. But what will you do in the spring. Mr toad you are being bold it is a shame that you just cannot sing.

A wonderful, refreshing post from that little corner of paradise! I'm going to put mine outside and see if some little creatures will move in!

Kabu
What a lovely birdhouse that turned out to be. And everything, all creatures great and small, seem charmed at your house, darling! A fun and precious post!

Isn't life full of wonders for those who notice?

I don't know if toads are the same as frogs when it comes to
courtship rituals, but in my abandoned little fish pond just off the deck, the frogs sing long and loud when they are twitterpated, and I have observed them performing duets. And they're so loud I can hear them inside the house with my door closed and the TV on... I don't think I ever heard of them climbing into a bird house.
