When we were young we had an oil lamp Aladdin it stood on the table and gave off a warm glow. When we switched to electric we sat and shivered.

Yes, starting to get to know someone over dinner could get awkward. Perhaps over drinks and a light snack, first. Or a common interest shared at an outing, like to, wherever the two people enjoy going.

always start dinner by candle light with a glass of french champagne. it loosens the lady up somewhat so that she will giggle gently at your jokes and the mood will lighten. The Gnomes wanted me to tell you this.
