I find myself biting my tongue a lot on Facebook. For me, it is not worth getting into a potential Facebook war over.

May I respond to your post? This is just my opinion but I do believe you will agree. 1. All of us are created so uniquely different. 2. We are created to like certain parts of life more than others and to be able to love colors, ways and music others do not. 3. Those countries that are closed, dangerous and the leadership only has a voice are those who have put a 'shut up' on all those voices that differ. 4. You have a total right to your opinion and a right to be heard but not necessarily agreed with just as others. To be angry with those of different opinions is to declare all those who are different than you are of no or less than no value. That is not you.... Try to offer your opinions and accept others have the same right. That does not mean you have to agree but have the grace to recognize their value. I LOVE YOU AS YOU ARE AND THAT IS VERY DIFFERENT THAN I AM.

I don't know exactly what to say about the situation.
But in general I also think that poltics and such stuff are personal things, which, in my mind, means people should keep the opinions to themselves, UNLESS they'd be ready for discussing the stuff.
Personally, I don't discuss politics in public, because I think it won't make any difference. I vote, yeah. But I can't change the world. :-)

I don't do FB, but I understand that you had to speak your piece. Sometimes one can't help it! I know in my family there are many of us who don't keep our mouths shut, and many who have paid the price for that. So, I tend to be publicly quiet about politics and religion, and any other controverial thing. I was brought up that way, as were members of my family, but it did no good for a lot of us.LOL!

This is exactly why you see nothing on my FB
except Shecky's Random Dumb Joke Tuesday, gig postings, and an occasional song from youtube or a post about my critters. I occasionally have to remove posts from friends who either comment inappropriately on my page or share something with me about which I am not interested. And even when I "like" stuff, mostly it's an acknowledgement that I appreciate their friendship and am glad they feel secure enough to share with me.
And damn it, some of it is funny. Offensive, maybe, but funny.
That said, if I remove something, it's a post -- not a friend.
And especially on social media I don't bother to join many discussions, knowing that conversations that happen there are interactions most people wouldn't survive in the real world -- a fistfight or worse would occur.

If I "unfriended" all of my friends who I disagreed with politically in the past year, well, it would be alot. I've had to ignore them and what I believe is their ignorance because it's not worth it to engage in a debate where no one is listening. Another reason I hate FB.

When I know there isn't going to be any actual conversation, or someone is just being rude, or challenging, on my smart days I just don't engage with them.
