I enjoyed writng as a kid. I use to draw too, even though I wasn't very good at it. I use to sit at my grandmother's table with her typewriter and type out my stories. I loved the clickety clack of the keys. Somehow, it was comforting to me. As a young adult, I forgot all about writing as a future teaching career was my goal in life.
Now, I have a couple unfinished manuscripts, and working on my third novel. I love writing. The connection between me and the words makes want to write every day. I hope someday to be published. If editing, and revising didn't scare me as much, I'd probably be a published author by now! lol

I enjoyed reading your writing biography. As a kid, I always tried to write but did not get far. Now I am thankful to say that I do these days.

I think I write as a way to organize and figure out what I think
and know. It was a way of putting things down in black & white and looking at them from a diff. perspective. The current political/social climate of intolerance and danger has me feeling like I did in earlier times when I felt (and was) unsafe, which I think is why I have recently been writing about them. If it was all roses and lollypops, nobody would write it down - boring normal doesn't interest readers.

Hi Kabu
Interesting! I started writing in the national newspapers in anger that boiled me within with the wrongs and injustices of the politicians on the people. But later I realized the futility of it all when there's no one to pay heed
. That wasn't enjoyment, this one (blogging) is.

Escape probably, one cannot keep beating one's chest when there are no gorillas around ,or not even a bear. Perhaps it was the nearest one could get to magic. Going shopping 7.51 am . Have another hour in bed.

This is so interesting to me Kabu... mostly because I'm not a writer. I am a financial person by trade. Yes, I confess, I'm good at math (ducking in case someone throws stones at me
). I arrived at blogging over ten years ago because a real life friend wanted me to read her blogs. I had no intention of writing but she left within a month, and I stayed for four more years. I've never written as a hobby, outside of blogs or emails...
For me, it's not so much about the writing, but the communication... I enjoy the feedback and thought provoking discussions (like the one you just inspired!). It's a good outlet for me, because I'm an introvert, and have so many thoughts inside my head... but it's also a way to learn about other people, who I find fascinating and as a result, I learn more about myself. Is that a long enough answer?

We write not because we want but because we are compelled to write. Life means little unless putting pen to paper...

For me the only reason is that I am desperately trying to improve my typing speed! I don't know why - I have no plans for becoming a typist and sit in my boss's lap...

Ah, S. Sister, such an interesting post. I can relate. I think many people who write see the world, its people and events, through a deeper, albeit different, slant than others. Whether we choose to share what we see, or perceive to see, determines the impetus of each person's writing endeavors. You have many fine credits to your writing career, demonstrating unique ability. For some of us though, imho, how well-received one's writings may be, is in part, content, chance, skill, timing and luck, possibly.
