I used to work for QT. They required each manager to check the competitor's prices on gas. We had to write it down. The earlier managers would call our district office if the competitor's prices dropped lower than ours. They always wanted to be within a penny of the competitor.

I once owned a sandwich and cakes store in an arcade and sold cigarettes for cost. Never made money from the cigarettes but made the money from all the take away food and drinks. it was so busy that several hours a day there were long lines of people waiting to get into the tiny shop to be served.

It is tough when one competes against unlimited resources . Although there are always some who like better service.

Your Dad knows how to roll with the punches, LOL. And I had never heard of a Wawa chain - we don't have it in Canada. But I know a place called Wawa right here in Ontario! When I say 'right here' I don't mean next door - it's about 600 miles to the northwest. Check it out on the internet...
