It is impressive what snow removal equipment can do with heavy snows. We do not have it in Maryland because it would sit idle most years. We get snow but nothing major to be cleared.

Of course i would build an igloo although I don't feel like that today . I am sure you don't get these ratty colds that everyone here has some for a month. Or mud being traipsed in onto your snow porch. Not only that it is vaguely exciting to watch snow fall. Also how miserable to look out of the window and watch the gnomes being drenched with rain as you would not bother to house them here. Although we are promised snow for this weekend as an Atlantic drift of cold weather is approaching rapidly. Chin up it could be worse.

We had a lot of snow when I was a kid, living in Washington,
but I don't remember there being extreme cold and a lot of ice underfoot. Of course when I was 8 or 9, snow was a building material, we could make snow forts and stage mock battles. There was a hill behind our house, but it wasn't good for sledding, since
we lived in desert country (the eastern side of the Cascade range) and there was too much sagebrush and tumbleweed growing randomly to get a clear shot at a downhill.

My friend told me chains are required in Canada. I only found that out a couple of years ago.

Kabu
Dear Kabu, I just leaned a lot from your post. Like you, I wouldn't have understood about snow plows, salt, driveways, tire chains, all the things of which you spoke. I know about them, but didn't ever experience them after being a toddler. Thank you.
