Sleep is a rare commodity for a new parent.

Yes it is quite an accomplishment to get more than 2 or 3 hours sleep at a time during those first 4 to 6 weeks

What fun it will be for you to cuddle that wee baby, and give Mama a break and a chance to get some sleep. They are the most wonderful things in life, family babies but a lot of work too.

Re: Pat,

Along with the single mother's exhaustion, there is the isolation that makes it so difficult. Mothers need community!

Elsa is just a month old, but the grabby days will come! And so will my daughter's ability to roll with being a constant mom.

I did it, half crazed at times though much of it is a blur, and marvel

these days at the stamina and good vibes among mothers wrangling toddlers through shopping expeditions, esp. during the grab-it-all off the shelves in the check-out line. Don't know how they do it...
