Well I always buy a few things one has to help these pagan rituals survive.

A tin opener and a packet of meal worms. Every little helps.

I do not recall finding out what Black Friday is until about ten years ago or so. To put it into a time context, I was 22 when I found out about it. Before that, I thought it had something to do with the stock market. Black Tuesday set off The Great Depression.

Apparently black Friday refers to the day - for retailers -

when they're at make-or-break time profit wise, and from that day forward they are "in the black" or making a profit. To me it means a mob scene, human nature at its worst. And it also signals the "real" start of the pressure, stress and overstimulation that comes along ahead of the jolly old elf...
