Re: mneme

Thanks Naut ... in fact they kept her in after all that! She is still on the post-op ward while they do more tests.  She says her arm feels like a pincushion .. smile.

Re:

Thanks Kabu.  I think she's just tired, and doesn't want to be on her own any more because of the fear of falling again.

Re:

Thanks CCT - having been through all of this a few years ago with my partner's mother, I know she will have to be self-funding, and the house will need to be sold at some point.  Lots of work to do on that, so it won't happen overnight.

Re:

Hi Annicita ... I'm afraid not. She doesn't want to leave her home area, so we are just taking it step by step - or non-step by non-step - at the moment. She's in reasonably good spirits, considering.

Re:

Thank you Taps ... sorry you went through it yourself.  I'm lucky I have the support that I do.

I'm so sorry that your Mom is poorly and that you are having to go through that time of life.  Years ago I went through that with my Dad and then three years later with my Mom.  Elder care is not easy in a lot of ways.  It especially is hard on one's emotions.  Take care of yourself.

is she able to move in with you once all of the others are gone or is that not feasible?

Well Meme I don't think one has to pay if they cannot afford to. Of course if there is a house I expect that is probably a different matter. Some nursing homes as you know are not so good as others, if one pays one gets a choice. It is sad that people have to worry these days as a lot of the children are sometimes not in good health themselves. It is the enigma of all of us living longer.

Poor Mum, seems she will not get back to her house, is just not well enough. I am so sorry and this will be very expensive.

Poor Mum - I'm so sorry; but maybe in the nursing home she will finally get the regular attention she probably needs...
