"Compassion Fatigue"... its a thing.
Those who care for others, are responsible for the lives of others are prone to it, and you could look at the withdrawal from being distressed by all that you can't fix or help as a self-defense, possibly as a retreat for a while, until you get all the pain, futility, and sadness out of your system.
You have love right there beside you and connected with you from here, from so many folk on Blogit as well as from other family and friends, and you have your own inner Godness that supports and heals you when you need it yourself.

It does seem like we have ended up with a reality of show of sorts in the world. The U.S. Presidential has gone that way. Whether it is a Trump blip on the radar or the new norm is something I wonder.

Well I read this yesterday and was surprised to see I had not given you a loving reply.
Oh! sorry that was meant for someone else, but I can't remember who.
So now today has moved on and you are a different person to the one you were yesterday. I shall of course reply to your Thursday blog as soon as possible.

Very thought provoking, Dear Kabu..
I think caring, empathic people do become overloaded by the sights and sounds of horrific suffering but I hope never become desensitized. The feeling of helplessness that abounds is hard to deal with. I heard a newscaster saying Haiti would be doubly devastated by Matthew because the infrastructure there is so broken down, insult to multiple other injuries, then last night I heard the country did indeed get hit hard by the hurricane and all I could do was double down on praying for those poor souls..

History is not for the faint of heart! At some level, things are simply ghastly. But in order to understand things, one needs to recognize patterns and causal connections that are sometimes not at all obvious..

Have a great day reading and enjoying the outdoors. Every conceivable methods of destruction and calamity is happening worldwide but we are thankful for the moments of cherishing and treasuring the beauty and love within.

Know what you're saying. Sometimes we wonder if we're all 'empathied-out'. Nah - we're not, but we do need to step back from it now and then...go into our own little happy bubble. I'll join you!

O Ooo Kaboo; Wiley & Kabu, thanks for your concerns re. disasters & News
But when you return to tell us your thoughts, your prayers, even your numbness-of-sorts, you show your deep Christian ethics. Remember, PRAYER has always been under-rated. PRAYER is more powerful than one can imagine. LORD prayer is His secret language to move HIm to hearken to His children. Our Loving Father is just AND MERCIFUL. We bring some crises on ourselves; His mercy & listening heart is the BEST. Gd is soooo Good, and so are Wiley & Kabu. It's good to mix reading & bear-worship, outside. If Wiley is agreeable, you might try BARE worship. NO idols, though.

We must focus on what good we can find. So many people are
dealing with atrocity and misery, some of them heroically and with others in mind. Kindness means something. We all need a hug now and then.

You have a good heart, dear Kabu. There is so much to consider with the state of the world, it is overwhelming. Some days one just needs to draw back, regroup mentally, refocus, and refresh! One so sensitive to pain often has to mentally shut down for a bit as a method of self-preservation. Be nice to yourself, and just enjoy the things that are good, at least for today! The world will wait for you!

Don't sit and analyse yourself about how you feel about the state of the world and getting yourself upset, nothing you can do about it, just look at your Smiley nd smile. I love you.
