The name change (a month after an announcement that is was coming soon) was revealed on the 5th.  A few people picked up on it, but for the most part it went unnoticed.  Don't feel bad.  Like you I first got wind of it from posts by other members and went looking for the official announcement (buried in the bottom of Everything Else).

Name changing is a funny business whether its an organization, a blogging network, or a blushing bride doing the changing.  Its not always necessary, nor is it always a bad thing.  Mostly it just takes some getting used to and a little time to digest and determine how you feel about it.  I'm surprised there hasn't been more buzz pro and con.
