I do hope wiley continues to improve in health.  Read him lots of good jokes and rent some funny movies...laughter (besides you at his side) is the best medicine

Oh my goodness, Dear Kabu; so sorry to just now be reading

of dear Wiley's ordeal - and yours. So very thankful he is okay and back home in your loving care!  Hospitals and docs are necessary, dare I say evils, but nurses are the angels that make it all bearable! I studied nursing when I was younger and worked as an aide in homes and at a hospital but never finished up due to a tragedy that occured involving a fellow student nurse who was a good friend. She was blamed for a medication error that caused a patient's death and could not deal with it. She committed suicide in a bathroom in the hospital two days later. A year afterwards, due to her family's dogged investigating, the truth came out - my friend was not at fault; an assistant head nurse was actually the one who made the error but she blamed an inexperienced student nurse who was working with another nurse and patient that night. This nurse had a history of drug errors buried deep in her records and had a drinking problem but she was related to a hospital board member so she continually got free passes until this truth came out. When I understood the devious, horrible politics that permeates institutions that are supposed to be dedicated to curing and healing, I wanted no part of the system.

I've noticed a change in the way medicine is practiced here in the

sticks, too. Used to be the first thing the office nurse did was tell you to take your clothes off, slip a paper gown on. Doc would look at the vital stats the nurse had put on the chart, listen to your heart & lungs, touch and prod the gut, and look at the torso. I've never even unbuttoned a shirt for this guy, who's never seen me naked. It's weird.

Yes well you cannot expect him to fly round the room for a while. The good thing is he is on the radar. Your doctor will try to do his best, and while I am at it look after yourself I expect the adrenaline has been cruising at high speed. Of course I am only a Gnome doctor  but I think most species are the same. Hugs to all. M.

Kabu

I'm glad he's home and in your excellent care! And of course there is that other advantage - you won't have time buzzing me...

Your experience as an RN has come in handy greatly for Wiley. So wonderful it is that he is back at home.

Kabu

What a great post! I loved every bit of it! Especially the end... LOL! You have to a patient advocate at all times now a-days, it seems. Thankfully, Wiley has you!
