So far, it was two different tales in primary voting in the States. Republican turnout was very large while Democrat turnout was poor.

Well in our recent Poll I think 75% voted, apathy I expect, mind having a postal vote makes life easier . My neighbour helps out at the local polling station, She said she locked the box at ten PM , there was a knock on the door , A man said he had been stuck on the Motorway and had being rushing to get to the booth in time. A pity his horse had got a stone in its hoof.

I didn't know voting was compulsory there! Wow, what's the "penalty" for not voting, if one misses voting time?

Voting is cumpulsory in Oz? So what happens to you if you don't feel 'compulsed' enough and don't vote? Do you lose your vote?

We're having a bit of your rain here now, dark most of the day and only
mid-70s - oddly low for July in this part of the Midwest. Nice day to sit inside and listen to all the programming on NPR - the news quiz, the game shows, the story hours, and later, the final broadcast of Garrison Kielor's "A Prairie Home Companion." His voice has stayed young, well-modulated and warm, but the body has aged, the skin is sagging, the once narrow body has shifted to the chair-based pear shape, and he's lost a bit of speed on his fastball. But the women are still strong, the men are still good looking, and the children are above average in Lake Woebegon.
