- Go to Fire flies in the night, ...
It would not surprise me to learn that some young folks who go out
night-clubbing actually do have LED lights wired to their clothes. Saw quite a few little examples of solar-powered light strings designed to be set up in the garden. It's not enough to have bright flowers during the day any more. BTW, Naut's hilarious observation need not keep you from lighting up your magical fairies and dancing floaters.

NZ has their 'glow-worm caves'
that are a delight to see, but again, you don't want to necessarily know too many intimate details.
Of course, Kabu, you don't know all those lights are fireflies... Could be some faeries out there with little lanterns... Maybe they are the fire-fly herders! There's still a magic story out there somewhere.
We used to call the yellow one fireflies, and the green ones, lightning bugs. Or maybe it was the other way around.

I have a ton of them at my house. I never get tired of seeing them light up a night.

Beautiful picture! And I think there's a lesson here for people having a hard time getting dates - have them light up their rear ends...

They do make a beautiful site gathered
We used to poke holes in a jar lid and catch then and put them in the jar. We had our own natural lantern.

I have only ever seen them once. One night in a grass field but not so vivid as your remarkable picture. Excuse me I have to go to the toilet. I have to toil I cannot make that word out. Better have a pint of water.

KABU
I love fireflies (also called lightning bugs in my area)....and caught hundreds of them when I was a child and we would chase them while the adults talked out on the lawn. We would put them in glass jars and punch holes in the top to make our own lanterns. Mean little boys sometimes pulled their tails off...I was told it didn't kill them but now that I think about it, someone was probably just trying to sooth me. Anyway, they would stick the "light" on their shirts and they would keep shining for awhile. Children can be so cruel for such "innocent" beings. The bugs were ugly, though. And, yes, I get really tired of the up and down of the night! Sure enjoyed this post, though

Oh, such a sight! what a magical picture! I am wowed! So beautiful. And no, I have never seen a firefly in the day, and rarely have I ever seen one at night! Such a lovely post, but I am not in a hurry to watch the bug's backside by daylight! LOL! And yes, it does seems as though our bladders aren't what they used to be. They could even betray us if we don't coddle them! Am looking forward to your story, S. Sister.
